Hmmyes. Looking good.
|
| < |
Simple and practical.
Top protects tits.
Gloves protect fists.
Fists protect everything else.
|
| < |
Too bad that I can't really afford any of this though.
I don't even know what kind of currency is used here.
|
| < |
We use none, actually. You can just keep the clothes if you like them.
|
| < |
What, seriously? For free?
You guys didn't build a Communist utopia that actually works, right?
|
| < |
Not at all. We built a post-scarcity utopia that actually works. The level of automatization of our industry is so high that human labor is no longer required. All citizens are encouraged to have jobs as means of personal self-improvement and entertainment, but the production of most physical goods is virtually costless.
|
| < |
That sounds highly unrealistic.
People wouldn't work just for the hell of it.
|
| < |
Of course, some individuals choose to do nothing all day, always consuming and never producing, but that's frowned upon as lazy and insensitive. Most of us do enjoy the opportunity to work on whatever we want, seeking new professional challenges and actively contributing to the progress of society.

That dome over there is Esperanza's farming sector, where all of our food is produced. If that is okay with you, that will be the next stop in our tour. We will pass through the city's red light district in our way there, so you will have the chance to check it out.
|
| < |
Wait the red what?
|
| < |
What the fuck? Are all these hookers?
Why are they all wearing the exact same lack of actual clothes?
|
| < |
That would be the official uniform of the sex workers of Esperanza.
|
| < |
What.
|
| < |
Those brown bands on their arms and thighs constantly monitor the workers' vitals and immediately report any damage they may suffer to the authorities, in the unlikely case some customer happens to cause trouble or that an unexpected new STD is detected, so that they can be immediately contained.
Another little contribution of mine to our humble society, if I may brag.
|
| < |
You made a hooker monitor.
|
| < |
Sex worker. A vitals monitor for sex workers.
|
| < |
And this is all actually legal?
|
| < |
Why wouldn't it be? Sex is a natural necessity and a very requested good, and it has been so since before humanity even existed, according to certain anthropology studies. Therefore, sex workers are very valuable and respected in Esperanza.
Furthermore, since they need not compete for customers, they can specialize in different specific activities, so whatever your personal paraphilias may be, you could ask any of them and they would happily show you to whichever of their coworkers is best suited to fulfill them.
|
| < |
Yyyeah, I think I'll pass. Not really into that. Any of that.
|
| < |
Woah, this place is nice.
|
| < |
These are the farms. They were built as a hemispherical helicoid for optimal sunlight gathering and maximum spatial exploitation.
They took a lot of multidisciplinary effort, but it was worth every man-hour.
I helped automatize some of the harvesting process. The animals however required a different approach.
|
| < |
What the hell? Those things are animals?
|
| < |
Mostly, yes. The city geneticists tampered around with their DNA and designed cattle that could help farmers with their tasks.
They can't milk or shear themselves, but they were given human-like intelligence, so that they can understand and follow commands.
With time, my colleages will surely find a way to give them more abilities.
|
| < |
So you've basically created compliant slaves, whose whole existence is serving humans and eventually get eaten, right?
|
| < |
Heavens, no. We don't eat these creatures, that would be extremely wasteful.
We collect any basic goods that their bodies produce naturally, and in return we provide them with anything they may need. They are allowed to go wherever they want and do anything they choose to.
|
| < |
Then where do you get meat?
|
| < |
Meat is produced synthetically to accurately reproduce different kinds thereof at a molecular level.
Other than being healthier, tastier and more tender, it is undistinguishable from real flesh.
|
| < |
Okay, so why not doing that with milk, eggs and everything else too?
|
| < |
Economics, I'm afraid. All synthetic production is costly.
A single genetically modified animal produces more goods over its lifetime than a regular one.
Meat however both can only produce once. So all in all, the numbers add up.
And needless to say, growing vegetables naturally is much more efficient than doing it in a laboratory.
Especially when you have the most efficient vegetable garden in History. |
